Hi Gary! Thank’s for your response! Yes our current leader is a musician. It’s because of his work that he misses. It’s one week out of two. If he can be there he will be there and he is devoted. We practice alot with him and his heart is really to serve and he loves the church. The probleme is the one who replaces him one week out of two. Often our mid week service will be out of worship songs because he cannot be there! He is also a musician! If we use CD’s, we are only singers not song leaders !
It’s OK to go and get someone in another churcher to lead our worship time?

Stephanie – Is the current leader a musician? I would expect the worship leader to be committed and consistent if they want to be the leader. It’s one thing for them to have to miss infrequently but it should be rare. If they cannot be committed, then yes, you need to look for someone who can be committed. The leader needs to set an example for the rest by their commitment. We always demanded all those on the worship team to be at church early to practice and spend time in prayer in preparation for what God wanted to do in the service. If you cannot get a musician/worship leader gifted in leading worship you can use CDs on a temporary basis until you find a worship leader, but the leader must be committed to the church and their ministry.

Hi! I have a question? What does a church do when there is a song leader in the church but unfortunatly cannot be at all the reunions. When he is not there, there is no one to do the leading of the time of worship. There is 3 singers, but only singers, no musicians or song leaders. Do we ask a talented singer and musician to come and do the worship time at our church?

Hi Katy, While dreams can be from God, most often they are to confirm what God has already placed in your heart. Do you feel God has called you to be a worship leader? Has he provided you an opportunity to start walking in that call? Are you gifted in the area of worship? These are a few questions you need to prayerfully consider as you seek God for direction.

I personally would like to enquire more about the best way we should conduct ourselves when we are praising Our Lord GOD by singing.Please should we junp and shout while singing hymn songs? or should do it in a humble way?

Great stuff! This really makes you think before you do something and make decisions as far as worship leaders go. Egos are one of the biggest things that come up with worship leading. Especially if you are very girted and better than others. A worship leader should not be titled “head leader” but the “Head Server.” We can’t lead until we have first learned to be humble and serve others. And even then, we should serve others with all that we have. Thanks for the great article!

Kim, If someone is spiritually mature, has a good heart, and is gifted in music/singing, how can you really tell if they are anointed to lead others in worship? If they have all these things, how can you tell if you they are not anointed to lead worship? What does this look like practically?
