Good Friday: Crimson Crystals From the Cross
The greatest challenge faced by Christians today is “To see what you see.” Frequently most Christians open the Bible and see/read what their eyes see written there but, do most of them understand what the Holy Spirit has revealed in those messages which are in fact the Word of God? That is the biggest challenge the Christians of today face, i.e. understanding the message communicated by God. The bible is the Word of God and it is the medium through which God speaks to us.
On this Good Friday, it is of prime importance that each one of us absolutely understands the message communicated by Jesus from the cross. The message of Christ from the Cross is communicated to us through the ‘crimson crystals’ that He shed on the cross.
First crimson crystal – Purification of our sins:
The first and vitally most significant Crimson Crystal which in fact is the ‘Rock Foundation of our Salvation’ is communicated to us in Hebrews 1:3 – “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven”.
Imagine our plight and the status of the world if Jesus did not ascend on the cross and purify us from our sins! The purified sacrosanct blood that Jesus shed from the cross to purify our sins were the most vital crimson crystals.
Second crimson crystal – Obtaining God’s forgiveness for us sinners:
“Father forgive them” (Luke 23:34). “My grace is sufficient” celebrated Apostle Paul the victorious soldier of the cross as he magnified the magnificence of his Master in 2 Corinthians 12:9. How did this gracious grace evolve from where & when? – Three dynamic words emanating from the bruised & cut lips that was spilling divine blood in between words that define the course & fate of mankind was the source of this amazing grace – ‘Father forgive them’. When Jesus summed the last ounce of His mortal energies and managed to whisper up to His Father in heaven to forgive us, God’s wrath and fury was raging in its peak. Jesus’ gentle & peaceful beseeching on our behalf cooled the Heavenly Father and “Behold! Our Salvation was born but our Savior gave up His immaculate life a few precious moments later to pay our debts”.
Third crimson crystal – He is a Bridge Between the Earth and the Heaven:
The sacrosanct story of the cross is in fact the epic story of Christianity. The vitally significant point made in the story of the cross: “The stretched sanctified hands of Jesus nailed on either side of the cross while His pained but anointed body hanging on the center line of the cross as if telling us that ‘the heaven lay on His right hand and the earth on His left, therefore He in the center is ‘the way, the truth and the life’ (John 14:6) that can reach us to the Father in the heaven.” But the nucleus of this divine story is about the price that He paid for reaching us sinners to the Father with Him playing the bridge that absolved & drained us out of our sins before we step into His Father’s home – that is what the crimson crystals that the cross shed on the day which we call Good Friday was all about. (Read also 1 Peter 3:18)
Fourth crimson crystal – Sacred blood guarantees instant paradise:
“Today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43). Up until that very moment the thief was a convicted and confessed sinner for which he deserved the capital punishment of crucifixion but in his last minute of repentance and total submission to the Lord he was not only forgiven & absolved of his terrible sins but blessed with an instant place in paradise. That is what the crimson crystal shed by Jesus up on that cruel cross guarantees for all of us, i.e. His matchless compassion and divine grace. The key words here are “total repentance for our sins” & “absolute acceptance of Jesus as our Savior” to deserve this priceless crimson crystal.
This Good Friday as each one of us end up at the foot of the cross and as we look up to Jesus, let us solemnly pray through our repenting hearts that these sacrosanct crimson crystals fall upon us to purify us and prepare us to be worthy our pilgrimage to the paradise. Amen.
